Regular ginseng supplementation increases energy and vitality, which is very important during periods of intense and long-lasting physical activity. Panax ginseng is also considered an aphrodisiac. It may improve sexual performance and increase libido.
Ginseng has been shown to reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and thus reduce inflammation in the body.[5,6]
In an ovalbumin-sensitized murine allergic asthma model, ginseng inhibited airway hyperreactivity caused by inflammation, among other things, by limiting the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines.[5-9]
Ginseng helps to deal with everyday stress and help to maintain homeostasis in the body by regulating immune response to stress. It also prevents anxiety and depression and prevents stress-related physiological diseases.[3,4]
Ginseng shows neuroprotective effect and improves memory. It also prevents neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease.
Ginsengs reduced lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress in rats model. Old rats fed with a panax ginseng water extract diet exhibited much less oxidative damage [11,12].Ginseng’s anti-oxidant effects have also been clinically proven.[10-12]
In a double-blind randomized controlled clinical trial, ginseng inhibited reactive oxygen species and increased glutatione and glutathione reductase activity in serum.[10,13]
Panax Ginseng has been tested for its anti-aging properties and it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties. Panax ginseng showed also cardiovascular regulating, immune boosting and neurological protecting properties. [10]
